This is my first diary, and it’s born out of continual frustration at losing the meme wars. If you’re anything like me, you’re sick of hearing liberal used as an insult, guaranteed to get knee-jerk reactions from thoughtless/clueless/ignorant gremlins who listen to right wing talk and watch Faux. Reagan really got the ball rolling, and it has gathered steam for a long time. Even on sites like this one, we all slip into the added comfort zone of substituting "progressive" for "liberal." C’mon, admit it.
I herein declare that it’s time to REHABILITATE the word LIBERAL!! I know I’m not the first to make this point, but I thought it would be a good time, as we approach the conventions and the presidential campaigns, to diary this idea and begin to push the center back to center and away from edge of the right-wing cliff where it has been teetering for a few decades.
